Allen Family Style Meals in Sweetwater

Good food served at a table of 8 guests. No menu, but plenty of choices on the family-style table! We were served 13 sides, fried chicken and meat loaf, and our server kept it coming.

If you want a unique Texas dining experience this is it. Family style lunch, meeting new friends while eating fantastic chicken and sides. Absolutely love the place and go as much as possible.

Delicious, a must eat place !

Very mixed feelings on this place. Small and cramp eating area. There were 3 guys on one end of a table and our group with 3. The waitress sat is at the end of their table. The food they had filled half the table. We asked "what now" and the waitress told the guys at the opposite end of the table to start passing down the bowls of food sitting on the table. The chicken was good but all the sides were cold. For $11 each we should have gone to Bucks or Whataburger!!! I am surprised this place stays in business. What happens to all that food what nobody else comes in? Waste or microwaved and passed to the next table/guest. Very mixed feelings. I will not return.

You absolutely cannot beat this place. Great people, incredible staff and did I mention that food??? It's 10 star! My favorite is the friend chicken and squash. Helpful hint....where elastic or big pants. lololol

Very nice family style restaurant in Sweetwater. The chicken was excellent!! The various vegetables were exceptional!! The peach cobbler was great too!! The waitresses were totally on top of everything!! The prices were very fair for all you can eat!! Highly recommend Allen's.

This place is truly amazing. Sitting at a table and sharing a meal with random people I liked. Have to be a people person though.

WOW! This place is incredible. The food never dissapoints, and each time you go in you get to sit with another interesting set of people. When you are in Sweetwater Texas and you are hungry for some great fried chicken and some good conversation this is the place to come.

I have 44 years experience with this establishment. Always great food, service and great folks to talk too. A place you will tell your grand kids about. If you leave hungry, it's your fault. I've made lots of new friends and great memories here. Really, it's not family style, but rather the old boardinghouse style. Much more interesting. You get to meet new friends Everytime you visit.

Best fried chicken I've ever had, eight out of the kitchen.Cream Corn, mashed potatoes and cole slaw are as good as they get and and experience of sitting down with rsndom people to share a meal was great.An absolute MUST.

Best fried chicken I've ever had! Pot roast was delicious as well. Fixins really put the meal together.

This was our first time and we were not sure what to expect! Our party of 2 sat with 2 other couples and we had a lunch full of food conversation and laughter and amazing food!!! It was a family style meal and the atmosphere was homey!! It was wonderful, an all around great experience and meal!

Great little place to go and share a meal with the friendliest strangers you'll ever meet. Definitely a must - stop if you're in Sweetwater.

An unique eating experience!!Great food. A few tables that seat about 8 people each. Family style.. food is brought out fresh from the kitchen.Even though it is all you can eat, it is not a buffet. "Take one down, pass it around".The one Price includes drink and tax.If you eat here once, you will come back. I know we will. Maybe you might end up sitting with us.

Went for Sunday lunch. Sitting is fast since it is set up family style. They had plates of fried chicken and roast beef. Sides of green beans, Mac and cheese, red beans,.pea salad, mashed potatoes and potato salad, cooked carrots, sweet potatoes, rolls and more. And the peach cobbler was fantastic. You serve yourself and you can get as much as you want.

I know I'm gonna be shot for this, but it's not all that it's cracked up to be. "All you can eat" is true. But it's not a buffet. They bring you out (a lot) of food they choose for you. If you don't like it, you don't have other choices. Many of the side dishes taste like they're just canned. The chicken is great though.We had a party of about 15. no one under 40 said they liked it.

We stopped to eat at Allen’s Chicken after watching an episode of Country Reporter. We were not able to eat inside due to the virus. We order out. We asked if there was flatware in our bag and was told yes. We went to a local park to eat and found no flatware. All we were able to eat was the chicken. Chicken was under cook too. Not an enjoyable meal.

Allen's is simply the best tasting and good for you food there is. The service is amazing and the atmosphere is one of a kind. Great place to take your family. And its a family owned and operated business. Super great people!!

Fried Chicken is awesome. The Colonel has nothing on this place. With a ton of awesome sides and very reasonable with the amount and quality of food. Would drive an hour just to eat here again.

VEGANS BEWARE!! Sorry, but I wasn’t impressed with this place. Granted, I’m vegetarian, but almost all the dishes were very sweet... mashed potatoes especially should not be sweetened. The price for all you can eat is probably fair, but a vegetarian also pays full price ($11.50). Unfortunately, this was the only sit-down place open on a Sunday. On a positive note ... the boiled okra was O K

Good food and good friends

Great place to go for a nice family style dinner. Chicken and all the fixings are very good. Only reason I gave them 4 stars is that I'm not a fan of strangers sitting at the same table with my family for dinner and they don't have any drinks besides Tea and Water.

More food for the price,well worth the stop.

Hands down best food on planet Earth. If you're within 100 miles of Sweetwater it's worth the drive.

The food is great. The problem is simply that you are crowded at a table. It seems they try to squeeze as many to a table as possible. I have problem sitting with strangers. But the tables are not big enough for all of the food dishes, much less room enough to eat without having to keep your arms close to your side. BUT THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS and the price is reasonable... all you can eat for 1 price.

Thos place is amazing, some of the best fried chicken I've ever had with great sides. They have a very unique dinning dining experience that your not likely to find anywhere else.

If you haven't ever eaten there you've missed some really great food and there chance to meet people all over the country. Been goin there for a few years now with my biker buddies n friends, I tell everybody I know abt Allen's. Oh and don't 4get prices, all you can eat for $11.50,$10 when I 1st started, caint beat that wit two sticks!!!

What a fantastic gem. My wife and I are from Austin and were absolutely smitten with quality and flavors of the many dishes that were brought to our table. Basically, about 10-12 to chose from... corn, beans, squash, peas, potatoes (sweet, whole and mashed), spinach, cold slaw, bread, beef and fried chicken (wow!) Only open for lunch and just $10 including drink. Think of this place like the Fogo de Chão of homemade southern family cooking. Don't be deceived by the outside. You'll seat in a communal table and make lots of new friends.

Everything is delicious, huge variety to choose from. I love the family style and getting thr opportunity to talk to people

Now this place is a local gem and people from all around the area know it. Family style shared plates. Great converstion with locals and drive byers. Fried Chicken is the best ever.

Our 2nd time stopping in. Excellent service and the food is SO good. Definitely feels like your home (without doing the work). Love it
